Emerald City was selected as the Top Commercial Rock Band in 1981 and 1982 as well as the Top Copy Band in 1983 at the Backstage Music Awards.
They were also selected as the Top Commercial Rock Band first runner up in 1983. |

Emerald City, winners of multiple Backstage Magazines music awards, were one of Western New York’s premier rock groups in the 1970’s and early 1980’s. During the 1970’s, the band was known for their unique rendition of the “Over of the Rainbow”, an arrangement of rock, jazz/fusion and special effects. Their powerful vocals, horn section and solid playing made them a record crowd drawing band. |

Emerald City was well known in Buffalo, Rochester, Niagara Falls and throughout the Western NY area. They were featured at the 1984 M&T series outdoor concerts in downtown Buffalo and during the late 1970’s, were regular performers at the Executive, then Buffalo’s premier showcase club.
Emerald City performed with such notables as Mickey Dolenz and Davey Jones (formerly of the Monkees), Herman’s Hermits, the Platters, and many others. |
